News & Press ReleasesKeys candidate says petty criminals shouldn't go to jail
A candidate standing for election to the House of Keys next month believes jail is not the answer for petty criminals. 24 year old Andrew Dossor is calling for an overhaul of sentencing on the Island and is suggesting a scheme whereby offenders would meet their victims and somehow make amends rather than serve a prison term. Mr Dossor,a manager at McDonalds, says if he gains a seat in Onchan he hopes to work within the Department of Home Affairs to bring about change in the criminal justice system.
