Long held ambition to stand but time had to be right for me

Now feel confident and equipped to represent a constituency and the Island as a national politician – an ambassador for the Isle of Man.

Sincere thanks to the many people over so many years that have encouraged & cajoled me to consider standing for election.

I have contributed to the Island and its community over very many years and have a rapore with the Island and its people. I now feel ready to take my proven commitment to the Island a step further and use my skills and experience to the benefit of our Island. (Treasurer, IOM Church Music Assoc/Board member Mersey Mission to Seafarers/council member & twice past President Skal Assoc (Worldwide)/Trustee DB Music Trust/member IOM Arts Council/Chairman IOM Anti Cancer Assoc., and close associations with a host of IOM clubs and charity’s.

I am offering myself to the people of West Douglas following support from so many people in that area and an area in which I feel very much at home.

Close association with West Douglas for over 40 years through lifelong membership of AS Church, Youth club, badminton club, school and close friends.

Our Island needs vision and confidence to maintain its place on the world stage and we have got to play our part well on that stage.

We have a fine line to walk in balancing a buoyant economy with maintaining our quality of life – it can be threatened.

There will be many decisions to be made to challenge this, some awkward and troublesome –the Island’s Branding Project ongoing since 2003 has resulted in a brand identity for the Island of ‘Freedom to Flourish’.

I endorse this corporate identity wholeheartedly and under this banner headline the Island can continue to be different, to innovate and encourage to its own and its people’s benefit. There is nothing wrong with being different if we make the right decisions for the better. I want to be a part of that decision making for the good of our Island.
