Publication Date: Mon, 21 Apr 2008
First-time voters are being encouraged to get involved in this week's local authority elections.
The Department of Education's produced a series of leaflets for students at the Island's college and seconday schools explaining what will happen.
This Thursday sees the first local authority election since Tynwald lowered the voting age to 16 in 2006.
The pamphlets advise students how and where to cast their votes, and show them what the ballot paper looks like.
Education Minister Anne Craine says it's important young people know how government works at both local and national level.
