Election spending rules to go before Keys
Sat, 02 Apr 2011
New rules preventing election candidates using anonymous donations in their campaigns will go before the House of Keys on Tuesday.
The Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill gets its first reading, following a public consultation on the matter.
If successful, the Bill will require candidates to declare all donation over £50, and limit election campaign spending to £2000, plus 50p for every registered elector.
The issue was raised following the Douglas East by-election last year.
