A current MHK for Douglas South will be seeking re-election.
Bill Malarkey has announced he will stand as an independent candidate.
In 2006, Mr Malarkey was elected as member of the Liberal Vannin Party, but left the organisation just over a year and a half later.
His wife Carol is a Douglas Councillor.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney, and Liberal Vannin candidate Kate Beecroft are also standing in the two seat constituency.
