Steve Rodan to go for Tynwald President job
Thu, 30 Jun 2011
Another politician has announced they'll be going for the President of Tynwald job.
Current House of Keys Speaker Steve Rodan is hoping to take on the role following the retirement of Noel Cringle.
Chief Minister Tony Brown has also confirmed he wants the job.
It's widely speculated that MLC Clare Christian is also interested, although she hasn't made a formal announcement.
If Mr Rodan gets the job, the Speaker's duties will be carried out by Deputy Speaker Quintin Gill until the House of Keys is disolved on 22nd August.
Mr Rodan is MHK for Garff and would have to resign if he becomes President.
At the moment, he's the only candidate who's announced they'll be standing for the constituency in September's General Election.
